Bright Sunday, a leading provider of solar PPA financing in Spain and Portugal, announces the appointment of Ludwig Ekström as its new CEO, effective July 1, 2025. This strategic leadership change signals the company’s commitment to expansion and continued growth in the clean energy sector.

Bright Sunday, a leading provider of solar PPA financing for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers in Spain and Portugal, today announces the appointment of Ludwig Ekström as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2025.

This leadership change marks the next phase in the company’s evolution, with a strong focus on business growth in both existing and new markets.

“Ludwig brings extensive experience in scaling clean energy businesses across Europe and has a strong track record of developing successful partner networks,” says Hans Toll, Chairman of the board.

As part of this planned transition, Niklas Engström, co-founder and CEO for more than eight years, will be moving on from Bright Sunday after the summer to pursue new opportunities.

“Bright Sunday has developed into one of Spain and Portugal’s leading C&I solar PPA platforms—financially robust, operationally sound, and positioned for scale,” says Sverker Åkerblom, Board member and CEO of Lead Investor Niam Infra Fund. “Niklas will remain active through August to ensure a smooth handover.”

With a strong asset portfolio and deep industry partnerships, Bright Sunday is accelerating toward its ambition to become a pan-European operator in clean energy financing.
