El Dúo Harinero SA, a family-owned distribution company, has taken a strategic step toward a more efficient and sustainable energy model. At its key facility in Madrid, the company has installed a rooftop solar system developed by Bright Sunday under a Renting (PPA) model – eliminating the need for any upfront investment.
We spoke with Carlos López about the context, decision-making process, and early results of the project.
With a demanding and continuous logistics operation, energy plays a critical role in El Dúo Harinero’s day-to-day activities. Their storage and distribution processes require constant energy consumption, making energy costs a key factor in overall profitability.
Before this project, the company relied entirely on grid electricity, facing variable pricing and limited long-term visibility – making planning more difficult and exposing the business to market volatility.
The need to better control energy costs was the main driver behind exploring alternative solutions. At the same time, the company aimed to advance its sustainability goals.
Solar energy quickly emerged as a natural fit—offering the potential to reduce costs, improve predictability, and support a more sustainable operating model.
El Dúo Harinero chose a solar Renting (PPA) model, enabling them to benefit from solar energy without any upfront investment.
This approach stood out for several key reasons:
This allows the company to stay focused on its core distribution business while benefiting from a more efficient energy solution.
Since commissioning, the installation has fully met expectations. The company is already seeing:
The project has become a key part of their mid- to long-term strategy, strengthening both competitiveness and resilience.
One of the most valued aspects of the project was the simplicity of the process. Bright Sunday’s hands-on support and practical approach made decision-making easy and efficient.
The turnkey solution removed technical and operational barriers, ensuring a smooth rollout from start to finish.
Following these positive results, El Dúo Harinero is already considering replicating this model across other facilities. The combination of savings, predictability, and zero upfront investment makes it highly scalable for their operations.
This project shows how companies can access solar energy quickly and without upfront investment — reducing energy costs and operational complexity while staying focused on their core business.

We provide custom solar PV system designs for self-consumption under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Using our design request form, we create an initial estimate based on your energy needs.
This is a preliminary assessment. Depending on site conditions and financial feasibility, we may not proceed. Final pricing and conditions will be detailed in a formal agreement if the project moves forward.
